About Margaret “Laurin” Dukes

Laurin Dukes received her Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law in 2013. She began her legal career in Columbia, South Carolina the same year. Laurin received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Associations from the University of South Carolina in 2010.

While in Charleston, Laurin was an active member of both the community and her law school. She served as a member of both the Student Bar Association and the Women in Law Board and volunteered with the Charleston County Guardian ad Litem program. Laurin also received the CALI award for excellence for Insurance Law in 2012. While in law school, Laurin became interested in the area of Tax Law and took several classes in advanced Federal Income Taxation. Eager to pursue her interests in Tax Law after graduation, Laurin became a member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS), a national, non-profit organization of tax professionals that trains attorneys focused on the fight for troubled taxpayers. ASTPS is the only organization solely devoted to the development of professional skills in this area of practice.

Laurin has attended several ASTPS Tax Problem Resolution seminars where she learned the skills needed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. She uses these skills daily in assisting individuals and businesses resolve their tax problems.
