Democrats are pushing for expanding the IRS with $5.2 billion dedicated to “enforcement activities,”
Taxpayers should expect more aggressive IRS enforcement actions under a Biden Administration. Jared Bernstein, who Biden tapped to serve as a member of the Council on Economic Advisers, stated that Biden would seek “significant increases in IRS enforcement and auditing, particularly for those with complex business structures.”
Twenty-Five House Democrats penned a November 25th letter to House and Senate leaders asking for $12.1 billion for IRS that includes $5.2 billion for “enforcement activities that are critical to ensuring compliance.”
Now may be a good time to clean up any outstanding tax problems, get current with all tax filings, and resolve back tax obligations prior to the Biden administration unleashing aggressive IRS enforcement actions.
